Human care during medical practice depends on the practitioner. For those of us on the medical conveyor belt, it is a blessing to come across those gifted individuals who get how vital the human component is to the health situation, and to the ongoing situation of being examined and monitored. Thanks for naming that part of your journey. It is real. And, one blessed, comforting, validating human being can make all the difference. I wish you a barn full of compassionate medical people and I wish you sustenance to endure. I wish you success, whatever and however that ends up being. Continued gentle blessings on your journey.
A beautifully written, honest sharing of your personal story. Thank you for sharing, and I’m sending lots of prayers to you and Lucas. I have every confidence that your “girl” the Holy Spirit is embracing you every step of the way.
What a great post, Lindsay. Lots of prayers, appreciation for fellow academic medical types, and lots of stories I can share about equine infertility and my ......only if you want to laugh. Blessings to you and Lukas!
This is the ministry I could have used in our own journey of in/fertility, dear friend.
When making the switch to our own set of U of M style medical professionals, my human moment was calling the office to schedule the next round of treatments following our first failure with this team. The receptionist dutifully listened and then said, with the greatest amount of shared sorrow, "I'm sorry you are having to make this call." I wept when I hung up. No one had ever said that to me in the two years of trying before. Someone understood that I was in pain, which in retrospect seems so obvious, but is unbelievably hard to articulate when it is happening.
I appreciate you inviting me and others into this experience with you, Lindsey, and I'm sending my absolute best to you and Lucas from Florida. My journey eventually had a beautiful success followed by two miscarriages. Our bodies are magnificent chemistry sets, not always providing the results we expect or desire, but taking us through the tests all the same.
Adriene, you've been on my mind and heart since I read this. I didn't know in/fertility was part of your journey. It makes the miraculous presence of your sweet E doubly miraculous. I'm so glad you found human care on your journey. Grateful for your witness and your well wishes and for the image of our bodies as magnificent chemistry sets. Love to you!

I can feel her, Mary. And often she shows up in people like you.
Thanks for sharing your journey!
Lindsey, you two have been through a lot already. Praying for your success!!
