If you’ve asked yourself more than once what day it is this week, you’re not alone. Lucas and I looked at each other this morning and said, “It’s Thursday, right?” Right. So I’m dropping in to say that whatever last weekend or the one to come held/holds for you, I hope this week brings an opportunity to lose track of time, remember that your value does not come from what you accomplish, and trust that whatever your body needs is a worthwhile pursuit. A five-day-old Jesus certainly didn’t overthink his needs as a vulnerable new human.
Speaking of vulnerable new humans, today marks the halfway point of our pregnancy. And so we’re celebrating many things: the growth of this now banana-sized being, the fact that—although delayed by a day (and 90 miles of closed interstate)—we were able to make a quick trip to Minnesota to see the Braun family on Christmas day, the warming weather that makes dog walks not only possible but enjoyable, and the hope and promise of new beginnings that both Christmas and the New Year bring. We don’t have to knuckle under to make them happen. They are given. Simply there for us if we will receive them.
I wish you these gifts this season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Much love,
Lindsey
P.S. For those who are curious, I finished my dress on Christmas Eve eve and it was cozy for Christmas Eve worship!
I just love seeing your baby bump - so incredibly happy for you and Lucas and this little one growing inside of you! It’s such a miraculous thing, isn’t it? I truly hope that I can meet “they/them” at some point in time. We love your all and pray for you often, know that your are all loved beyond all understanding! XOXO. Great Auntie Carol and Padre.
The glow from the two of you outshines all else!
